In this paper, the article explores the problems encountered by business writing among undergraduate students in one of the privately owned universities in Pakistan. With qualitative research design, data were gathered by use of semi-structured interviews with business communication course students and instructors. Thematic analysis also indicated that there were challenges in organizing and formatting of documents as well as balancing on tone and professionalism as well as grammatical accuracy and clarity. The lack of writing practice, the lack of feedback and the lack of prior preparation have been determined as some
of the key contributing factors. Even though AI applications, like ChatGPT, help to generate ideas and fix language, overuse impedes the development of independent skills. The research results emphasize the significance of the effective pedagogy, positive feedback, and learning oriented practice in enhancing the proficiency of business writing. The research provides useful recommendations to teachers and curriculum developers to enhance teaching writing, critical thinking, and students’ preparedness to academic and professional communication needs.
